Great information from Perry  Herrmann From the Denver Business Journal  Dec 10, 2012 California company buys Village Homes  A California homebuilder announced Monday it's entering the Colorado market with the purchase of "various entities" operating under the Village Homes name in Denver, Fort Collins and Granby. William Lyon Homes Inc., of Newport Beach, Calif., didn't disclose what it paid. The company, which builds homes in California, Arizona and Nevada, said Village Homes will operate as a division of William Lyon Homes. J. Eric Eckberg, president of Greenwood Village-based Village Homes , will remain in charge and report to Matthew Zaist, executive vice president of William Lyon Homes. Village Homes started in 1984.  The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2008, listing $103.9 million in assets and $138.4 million in liabilities.  A joint venture between Lowe Enterprises and Homebuilder Capital Solutions LLC acquired most Village Home...

My name is Saber Amine and my address is 6071 S Franklin Street. I have been a resident of Franklin Meadows since 2012. My family and I moved here because we fell in love with the laid-back and Country feel of the neighborhood. Before I share with you the technical aspects of what it means to allow the zoning changes, let me share some general thoughts about the proposed changes: 1- As many of you know Franklin St has no sidewalk and with the opening of the new bridge on the Highline Canal we are seeing a significant increase of pedestrian traffic. Now imagine increasing the auto traffic by 45%. This is a recipe for disaster for people and pets both on Franklin st and at the Orchard intersection. 2- If we allow the zoning changes, it would be hard to control what the developer will decide to do. My father, Dr. Charles Smedley, a third generation Denver dentist, grew up near City Park, but always wanted in live in the country. After serving in the Navy as a dentist in World War II, he found 12 acres of farm land in 1947, with a little one bedroom cottage at 6100 S. Gilpin Street, where he raised his family of 4. It was his dream that this little "oasis in the middle of the city", surrounded by the High Line Canal Path would remain as open space for the public to enjoy.
